Control4 Releases New 1.3 Software Upgrade Making Remote Updating, Programming Easier
This software release will create new ways for consumers to automate their homes
Denver, Colorado – September 14, 2006 – Control4, the leader in affordable home automation and entertainment solutions, today announced the release of its 1.3 software upgrade, which will be unveiled at the 2006 CEDIA Expo (booth #634). This software release will create new ways for consumers to automate their homes, including the ability to create media, lighting, safety and security scenarios, as well as providing dealers more options in setting up and interfacing with Control4 systems, including an intuitive programming interface and the ability to program remotely.
“Control4’s 1.3 software upgrade adds new features to nearly all of Control4’s product offerings,” said Will West, Chief Executive Officer, Control4. “The ability to bring the technologies included in this package to the marketplace at an affordable cost to the consumer, including the ability to monitor a system remotely through our 4Sight program, has been a part of Control4’s mission since day one.”
Control4’s new 4Sight program, included in the 1.3 upgrade, will allow consumers to use the internet to monitor and control their home automation system remotely, by managing things such as turning lights on and off, opening garage doors or activating a security system. Consumers will also be able to utilize improved menu functionality, enhanced volume and multi-room audio settings, and additional automation features, such as worldwide location selection to coordinate home control with sunrise and sunset times. It also improves response time for items such as switching media between rooms, or volume adjustments, and allows for device status feedback on both the system remote control and LCD keypad.
“With this 1.3 upgrade dealers will be able to remotely manage and upgrade their customer’s system without having to physically be at their residence,” said Dave Hirsch, Horizon Install Group, Inc. “The benefit to end-users is that by using the web-based navigator they will be able to make adjustments to their Control4 system to suit their lifestyle needs.”
Dealers will now have new capabilities as well. With new Systems Diagnostic tools, dealers will have an improved ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system problems. 1.3 will also allow dealers to fix system issues or update project configurations remotely, reducing the need for dealers to schedule an on-site appointment with the consumer. If an internet connection is not available, a dealer can save system information using only a USB stick. Additionally, 1.3 enables dealers to program a system or scenario using Cut/Copy/Paste functionality, allows greater control over programming macros, and increased support for third-party devices.
