Once You Go Rack, You Never Go Back Blog
Prior to working at Control4, I designed and installed Control4 systems. A question that clients often asked was whether they should have their A/V equipment scattered in respective areas around the home or is there a better solution? I would always explain that there was a better solution and that better solution is called a “rack.” Just as a background for those that do not know, a rack is a metal tower-like structure that houses the main components of a home’s automation and audio/video equipment and is generally located in a discrete location, like a basement or a garage. As an admitted AV geek, I love seeing a huge rack of equipment.

4K vs. Faux-K: Get What You Paid For Blog
If you’ve gone TV shopping in the past two years chances are you’ve heard the terms “4K” or “Ultra High Definition TV” (UHDTV). These both refer to the brand new, next-generation video standard that is going to usher in some of the most spectacular and lifelike images ever seen. Among other improvements, both of these terms describe the pixel resolution these new sets deliver, featuring four-times the resolution of current 1080p sets, providing both twice the vertical and horizontal resolution. Together, these 3840 horizontal and 2160 vertical pixels deliver more than eight million pixels on screen – compared with just over two million for 1080p – producing incredibly realistic images with stunning detail.
Ultimate Broncos Fan Cave Blog
This Ultimate Fan Cave submission comes to us from Travis Leo at Residential Systems, Inc. We’d start with a Control4 HC-800 to power the fan cave and the rest of the house. We’d have a Control4 Video Switch powering the 16 video zones in the home, including 3 outdoor TVs since the weather in Colorado is so much better than in Seattle. A Control4 Audio Matrix Switch would power the 24 audio zones so that the game can be on everywhere in the house. The fan cave actually has 5 TVs in it. There are 4 Sony 4K televisions mounted in a diamond shape so that the homeowner can watch the Broncos game, as well as the rest of the NFL games during the regular season. For the big game, a 165” screen drops from the recessed ceiling and is powered by a Sony 4K projector. Why Sony? Isn’t it obvious? The owner controls his house from his iPhone and iPad, as well as three dedicated Control4 touchscreens (one on each floor). There is a dedicated iPad for the fan cave on a Launchport docking station. There is also a VoicePod in the theater so that the homeowner can say “OMAHA” and the screen drops from the ceiling, the projector turns on and the cable box turns to Fox for the pregame show.
