Automating Sibling Rivalry Blog
In my house growing up, automation took sibling rivalry to a whole new level - from an all-out immature brawl, to an intelligent, though probably still immature, battle of strategy and wits. I don't remember how the fight started (who does?) but the bottom line was we were fighting and we were going to make each other miserable as a result. My opening move was to turn the TV off on my brother, so I went to the touch screen in my room, and turned off the TV in the family room where he was watching. He at first assumed it was just a power outage or something and turned the TV back on, and I promptly turned it off.
Home Alone: How My Smart Home Helped Me Reclaim My Independence Blog
This post comes to us from Control4 customer, Mikki Marshall. We send our most sincere gratitude to her for sharing her incredible story. From a young age, I've always maintained an "I can do it myself" mentality. My parents supported this early need for independence by often allowing me to choose my own school outfits (within reason) and occasionally walking to the bus stop unattended. Looking back, I guess those were no great feats but at the time I felt invincible and proud to be doing things unaided. With each passing year, my desire to do things on my own only deepened.
4K TV Resolution: Is it the New "3D" or Something More? Blog
I recently read a blog post from Electronic House explaining that the most recent 4K resolution trend that is just being introduced to the market is more important than 3D. They even claim that, down the road, it will be more widely accepted than 3D as well. For those of you that have never heard of 4K resolution, it is basically quadruple the image quality of full HD, plus it has the capability to produce passive 3D content that you'd actually consider watching. As the author mentioned in his article, TV makers have been trying to push 3D down our throats for the past several years now. In spite of this it has just never taken hold—mainly because of lack of 3D content and the requirement of wearing special glasses while watching TV.
