Control FORE! Blog
Dewey Tomko had a problem: He’d find himself thinking about his golf swing at night, when no course was open to practice on. So, he built his own. Now, Dewey can play golf when it’s raining or dark out--and so can you. Dewey’s Indoor Golf & Sports Grill is a 12,000-square-foot high-end entertainment center, just down the road from the convention center in Orlando, Florida. Here, golfers can swing on virtual versions of courses from around the world, and then relax in a luxury sports bar straight out of Vegas. It’s a dream come true for Dewey, who knows a lot about golf – but quite as much about technology.

Why Should I Add a Home Automation System to My Home? Blog
Think back. Can you remember what it was like to change the channels of your TV manually? When channel surfing and volume tweaking meant bouncing back and forth between couch and console? Although folks from the generation that remembers these antiquated modes of control may not have realized it then, this was highly inconvenient. Fast forward to the era of handheld remote, where we have all the necessary buttons for finding and enjoying a TV program right at our fingertips. A home automation system offers that same kind of convenience, but on a much broader scale and often without any button pressing required.

National Child Safety and Prevention Month: 8 Ways a Smart Home Helps Keeps Kids Safe Blog
With November being National Child Safety and Prevention Month, we thought we'd share 8 tips on how home automation can help keep your kids safe at home. 1. Personalized Access to the House Smart locks will allow your kids to use a personalized code to access the house when they get home from school, and you’ll instantly receive a notification when they walk through the door. What's more, within moments of arriving, the door can lock itself again so you don't have to worry about them forgetting. 2. No More Toppling TVs & Cord Clutter While televisions have increasingly become lighter since the days of box-sets, studies are showing that there is still a growing risk of injury, and even death, to children from toppling televisions.
Total Home Control in Black & White—And Red. Blog
So what is home automation, anyway? And how might one explain Control4’s approach to the concept of “whole home control” in two minutes—or even less. With the possibilities as endless as the sea, we thought we'd tackle the complexities of what “one remote” (or smartphone, tablet, etc.) can do with the most basic animation of all… and using just a few brand-specific colors. (I am a member of the Creative Services team, after all!) Without further ado, I’ll let the video do the talking. Just press PLAY!
Treasure of the Sierra Madre: "El Chepe" the Smart Train Blog
A National Treasure Past tumbling waterfalls and towering canyons tinted with mineral deposits. Through forests, deserts, valleys and tunnels, and across breathtaking bridges... The Chihuahua al Pacifico (“El Chepe” for short), Mexico’s Copper Canyon rail-road, is among the world’s most spectacular train journeys. One of only two passenger routes in the country, this 650 km (~404 mile) “ride in the sky” takes 13 hours to wind its way northeastward along the Sierra Tarahumara (part of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range). The journey runs from Los Mochis on the northwest coast to Chihuahua in central northern Mexico, rising from sea level to almost 2,500 meters (~8,000 feet) at its highest point.
Home Theater. Simplified. Blog
Many homeowners desire the simplification that home automation can bring to their lives but either worry about the potential cost associated with it or they simply just don’t know where to begin. A common starting point for home automation revolves around A/V entertainment because it is not uncommon to walk into a family room or home theater and see a stack of remotes sitting on the coffee table. Just to simply start up a movie can take up to 5 remotes and several button presses before the opening credits finally start to roll. The Reeds’ dealt with this problem for years until they finally decided to do something about it.
