Smart Home Solutions are a Family Affair Project
You don’t have to be a tech lover to appreciate what home automation can do for you and your family. This Denver family of five has found that Control4 works very well for them as a whole, and individually. Dad, Scott, admits that he was lured by the video and audio automation capabilities. His wife, Jane, however, was enticed by the lighting control. Being able to manage the energy and the lights all at once was a huge benefit, and being able to shut down all of the deserted lights and arm the alarm in the evening with just a simple press of one button was the icing on the cake. The house reveals plenty of entertainment zones, from the Playstation® and big screen TV in the basement to the ping pong room to the personal gym— each has its own scene, which sets everything from the A/V inputs, to the lighting and temperature exactly how they want it.

Apps: Are They Making Your House Too Complicated to Control? Blog
This post comes to us from Lisa Montgomery, Senior Editor at Electronic House and freelance home technology writer. According to Gartner, Inc.*, by the year 2022, the average family home could contain more than 500 smart devices*, and it’s likely that each of these products will be able to be controlled via an app on a smartphone or tablet. On the surface, this might sound like a good idea, but imagine hunting and pecking through dozens of individual apps to manage your home environment. Instead of making your house easier to control, your app-infested phone could conceivably make the process painfully tedious and time consuming.

CES: My Favorite High Tech Products Blog
This post comes to us from Lisa Montgomery, Senior Editor at Electronic House and freelance home technology writer. This year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas seemed all about the Internet of Things, or IoT, for short. There were washing machines and dryers that connect to the Internet, surveillance cameras that zip real-time images to smartphones and scads of devices that can be monitored quickly and conveniently from an app on a phone or table. I saw connected versions of thermostats, garage doors, security systems, and more. While IoT products represent a huge trend in the home electronics industry, some of the most fetching products this year didn’t really look like technology at all.

Getting Connected in Kent Project
Once you’ve lived with Control4, it’s hard to imagine life without it. The Smith family experienced that when they moved from their Control4 home, to a new house that was not designed as a modern, connected home. Mr. Smith wanted to replicate the ability to have his media distributed throughout the home while allowing for deeper integration with lighting, heating, security and gate entry, and he knew that Control4 was yet again his home automation choice. Mr. Smith wanted a simple, elegant solution, all operated within one user interface. With Control4, he is able to run all of his multi-room audio and video, CCTV and alarm integration, underfloor heating, intercoms and lighting control.
